The vast majority of our stock consists of one-off (and frequently pre-owned) items. Please bear this in mind as we do also sell at
other venues such as swapmeets and there is a chance that if you order a car it will already be sold. However the web site does feature real-time stock control which largely mitigates this issue.
We assign a condition code to all our cars:
New: Brand new stock which has not been not pre-owned
M - Mint: Never used and in as new condition. Please make a small allowance for 1960s cars which are unlikely to look
factory fresh after all this time even if they havent been run. Cars in card boxes (both old and new) inevitably soil very
easily but we will add a comment where there is significant wear or any damage
VG+ - Near Mint: We use this additional category for new cars which have just seen a couple of test laps and older cars
which are close to mint
VG - Very Good: Nothing wrong or missing but has been used and is therefore not mint
G - Good: No major defects, perhaps fitted with several repro parts but otherwise complete
F - Fair: Missing parts or damaged. We tend to only use this category for rarer older models where many people are
happy to have an example of some sort
If the notes state repro parts this means that an original part (or parts) have been lost and replaced with a copy part.
Where available we use RUSC repro parts (see RUSC repro parts at Slotbug )
which are injection moulded and chromed to a high quality as required.
Otherwise we use BTS parts which are made from resin and also chromed as required. Either way, a car with repro parts
usually looks great!
/B - Boxed
/RB - Repro Boxed
Brown marks!! The plastic used in 1960s cars is particularly prone to picking up brown marks which are ugly
and impossible to remove! These are caused by rubber
(usually tyres but not always) in close proximity. Many 1960s cars are now affected and it is becoming
very difficult (and expensive!) to find unmarked ones. All the same, we will always say if a car has brown marks and we
wont list a badly affected car out at all unless it is a rarer model.
Every car is carefully checked before being listed. All cars are cleaned and serviced as required
and should not require further attention before entering your collection. If you intend to run a car then please remember
that 1960s models in particular are all getting very old now. We always ensure our cars are fitted with decent motors but
soft original tyres in particular are now hard to find for older models. You may need to purchase a set of repro tyres if
you want to run a very old car. Please see Slot Car Shop repro tyres at Slotbug |
